'Secrétaire à abattant' contains the words secret and
abbatre, indicates 2 functions of this piece of furniture 'secret and
precipitate'. The flap folds down to form a writing surface, the interior
houses a secret compartment.

'Table de Milieu', with marquetry époque Napoléon
III, ca 1850.
Elegant table with very decorative marquetry. This type of table is
made of ebonized (blackened) pearwood and decorative inlay with exotic
woods, fruitwood and enriched with bone/ivory elements. The top is richly
decorated with marquetry in the Napoleon III style. Inlays with floral
compositions, curly foliage, flowers, masks, all symmetrically scattered
on the rectangular top. The cabinet has a large drawer, beautiful black
lacquered turned legs connected by an X-shaped connecting piece animated
by marquetry. Napoleon Bonaparte III was President of the French Republic
from 1848 to 1852, later Emperor of France from 1852 to 1870. The style
of Napoleon III was characterised by exuberant forms, an excess of decorative
motifs and naturalistic figures. The table is also called a Pageantry
Table or Table d'Apparat. Table with magnificent appearance. Dim. HxWxD

Table de Milieu, met marqueterie époque Napoléon
III, ca 1850.
Elegante tafel met zeer decoratieve marqueterie. Dit tafeltype is van
geeboniseerd (gezwart) perenhout en decoratief inlegwerk met exotische
houtsoorten, vruchtenhout en verrijkt met been/ivoren elementen .
Het bovenblad is rijk versierd met een marqueterie in de Napoleon III
stijl. Inlegwerk met florale composities, krullend gebladerte, bloemen,
maskers, dit alles symmetrisch verdeeld over het rechthoekig blad. Het
meubel heeft een grote lade, mooie zwart gelakte gedraaide poten verbonden
door een X-vormige verbindingsstuk geanimeerd door marqueterie. Napoleon
Bonaparte III was president van de Franse Republiek van 1848 tot 1852,
later keizer van Frankrijk van 1852 tot 1870. Der stijl van Napoleon
III werd gekenmerkt door uitbundige vormen, een overdaad aan decoratieve
motieven en naturalistische figuren.
De tafel wordt ook genoemd een Praal Tafel or Table d'Apparat. Tafel

Antique display case/ china cabinet from the first quarter of the 18th
century. Beautiful wood patina. Behind 2 glass doors there are 4 shelves.
Underneath the cabinet there are two rows of drawers (4 drawers). The
cabinet stands on 4 tapering legs that are connected by a so-called

Made of mahogany, mahogany veneer and embellishments with chiseled and
gilt bronze. The furniture has a rectangular white marble surface. Wide
drawer furnished with writing area. A mirror is mounted tiltable between
two columns. Four gilded candlesticks are mounted on the columns. The
dressing table rests on four legs, two of which end on lion claws. Very

colour mahogany. The four lion claw feet are carved from solid mahogany.

cm, circa. 1870.
Globe reveals the latest scientific information on continents, including
recent geographical discoveries. The globe has a graduated brass meridian,
with a mahogany horizon band with paper zodiac and calendar. Cartouche
with signature, Thomas Malby & Sons, agent Edward Standford Charringcross
London. Mahogany tripods stand in the traditional George III style.
Below is a compass mounted between the tripods legs. Agent Edward Stanford
(1827-1904), Charringcross London, was a optician and scientific instrument
dealer, a prominent British mapmaker and publisher. The Stanford's shop
is still a prominent London landmark today.

De globe bevat de laatste wetenschappelijke informatie over continenten,
inclusief recente geografische ontdekkingen. De globe heeft een gegradueerde
messing meridiaan, met een mahoniehouten horizonband met papieren dierenriem
en kalender. Cartouche met handtekening, Thomas Malby & Sons, agent
Edward Standford Charringcross London. Een mahoniehouten driepoot in
de traditionele George III stijl. Onderaan is een kompas gemonteerd
tussen de poten van de driepoot. Agent Edward Stanford (1827-1904),

Louis XVI Holland cabinet, floral mahogany, late 18th century.
The cabinet is made of mahogany, veneered on oak. The gallery edge on
the hood is formed by two baluster railings, therefore also called fence
cabinet. The straight, profiled hood, has 2 ajour sawn gallery edges.
Next to the two doors we see two semi-circular columns with Corinthian
capitals. The base is fitted with three large drawers. The upper part
has two doors with shelves and drawers behind them. As a whole, an elegant
storage cabinet! The cabinet stands on tapered legs. All characteristic
of classicist or Louis XVI period.History: This type of furniture originated
in the 16th century and was used to store and display curious and precious
curiosities. From 1700 onwards this type of furniture became larger
and was now used as a linen cupboard to store tableware. This cabinet,
following the European rococo style, has the stricter and elegant forms
of the Louis XVI. Dim. HxWxD 250x186x62 cm.

Het kabinet is gemaakt van mahoniehout, gefineerd op eiken. De galerijrand
op de kap wordt gevormd door twee baluster hekje, daarom ook hekjeskabinet
genoemd. De rechte, geprofileerde kap, heeft 2 ajour gezaagde galerijranden.
Naast de twee deuren zien we twee halfronde zuilen met Korintische kapitelen.
Het onderstel is voorzien van drie grote laden. Het bovendeel heeft
twee deuren met daarachter legplanken en laden. Als geheel een elegante
opbergkast! De kast staat op taps toelopende poten. Alles kenmerkend
voor classicistische of Louis XVI-periode. Historie: Dit meubeltype
ontstond in de 16de eeuw en diende voor het bergen en tonen van curieuze
en kostbare rariteiten. Vanaf 1700 werd dit meubeltype groter en werd
nu gebuikt als linnenkast om serviesgoed op te bergen. Deze kast, volgend
op de Europese rococo stijl, kent de strengere en elegante vormen uit
